Syd is at EFY finally! She made the third flight out today. We left our home at about 5:15am to make the 6:45am flight. We hit lots of traffic, lots. Anyway, when we got to Long Beach Airport the kiosk was empty. The terminal is so small that the employees also work the gate. So we went to the gate and since I had not got her boarding pass online she couldn't get on (Syd was fighting a losing battle with her tears). They were very nice though and sent us to John Wayne Airport for a 7:50am flight, which we missed. Another very nice delta employee got her on the 10:05am flight. I waited with her til she had to go through security. She lost sight of me after going through, called me and asked where I was. The 17 year old said "I can't see you." Now I had tears, I walked around some plants and stepped out to see her on her phone and waving from about 20 yards away. We talked on the phone til I got to my car and talked several more times til she boarded. She made it safely, but was late for EFY check-in. Our incredible friend Bishop Kory Sorensen waited at the airport for her, I told him that I would get her on some kind of shuttle down to BYU but he said no and waited for her. I know my Bishop is true.
So now things seem weird to me. My life is a little bit like a ghost town. I'm thankful for Garrett, Kodi and Degan (well I'm very thankful for all my "great" grandkids), being close by. I'm going to Bobby and Tif's for homemade mac and cheese. When I hug and kiss the three that are here I will give extra's in proxy for the eleven that aren't.
Maybe I can forward Syd's efy texts to you through this blog. If they are of interest!
Sis, have the kids call me when they are settled in their beds, and through speaker phone I will read some of them a bed time story. Tomorrow night another bed of children and through the week til I read a story to "somegrandchild" each night (as challenged by Letti).
I LLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVeeeeeeee you and LLLLLLLLLLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKKKKKKeeeeeeeeeee you all!!!!!!!!!
Oh, I better leave you with a scripture - Alma 18:27
